Today I came across this article that a friend of mine posted online and I read it and apparently there were some people that felt offended by the post and others didn’t.  I read it and found it intriguing and more than anything motivating to make some changes in my life in order to fall into the category of wealthy.  Now one thing is that some people view that wealth is dealing with Money, however I don’t feel that way, I think wealth means in all areas of ones life.  Being Wealthy in your relationship, wealthy in your health, money, socially, etc.  So you read it and come to your own conclusion.  I wish you a great 2014 may you say blessed throughout the year and may you become wealthier in all areas of your life.  Thanks Roger for the post!

Tom Corley, on his website RichHabitsInstitute.com, outlines a few of the differences between the habits of the rich and the poor.

1. 70% of wealthy eat less than 300 junk food calories per day. 97% of poor people eat more than 300 junk food calories per day. 23% of wealthy gamble. 52% of poor people gamble.

2. 80% of wealthy are focused on accomplishing some single goal. Only 12% of the poor do this.

3. 76% of wealthy exercise aerobically four days a week. 23% of poor do this.

4. 63% of wealthy listen to audio books during commute to work vs. 5% of poor people.

5. 81% of wealthy maintain a to-do list vs. 19% of poor.

6. 63% of wealthy parents make their children read two or more non-fiction books a month vs. 3% of poor.

Social Media’s Coolest Travel Companies

Planning on taking a vacation this summer or you already have, well here’s just some cool Social Media ideas I came across in regards to not completely plugging out of Social Media all together during your next vacation.  As my summer has been filling up with travels to Cyprus, Cancun & Maui, I’ve noticed that although it is a vacation it is also fun to stay plugged into the Social Media world and try to use it to help others or myself….

Now we all know what happens when we board the plane and they begin to start explaining the safety video but who ever thought an airline-safety video could be fun? Air New Zealand did. ANZ employed the ever-bedazzled Richard Simmons to deliver the familiar preflight lesson of how to don your oxygen mask (or “take a breather!” as he says). And the disco-rich video wasn’t just for flyers: it has had almost 2.6 million YouTube views since its March 2011 launch—try getting that kind of virality from your basic seat-belt-fastening snoozer.

Social media, after all, has become an essential part of the way we travel—with everything from trip planning to photo sharing. The SMITTYs came about when we saw travel companies doing some pretty cool things in the social media space, and we wanted to recognize their efforts. So we asked airlines, tourism boards, car-rental companies, tour operators, cruise lines, and others to give us their best efforts from 2011.

The hotel company created and promoted special rates for Facebook and Twitter. The depth of the discounts (as low as $89 a night) drove a high volume of bookings and awarded them the Best Social Media Promotion of Travel Deals, Global Hotel or Resort Chain.

Four Seasons Hotel Austin

Ultimate Austin Scavenger Hunt: The property organized a photo scavenger hunt; fans and visitors submitted pictures of the hotel and Austin landmarks on Facebook or Flickr. The first 100 participants to complete at least half the tasks received an overnight stay or other prizes.  Lots of brands have photo contests; adding a scavenger hunt was a fun way not just to engage fans, but also to utilize the popularity of Facebook’s photo-sharing functionality.

FOOD & DRINKS

Foodspotting, an app favorite for food photographers, launched less than a year and a half ago.  Foodspotting began in 2009 when cofounders Alexa Andrzejewski, Ted Grubb and Soraya Darabi put their heads together to address what they felt was a lack of proper food reviewing apps. A few months later, they launched in beta at SXSW Interactive in March 2010.

My favorite way to describe Foodspotting? If Flickr and Foursquare went out on a date, ate too many oysters and drank too much champagne, the result 9 months later would look very much like Foodspotting. Using the mobile app, users can snap a photo of a dish, tag it and share it with friends on Foodspotting or via Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, etc. It’s also a helpful guide if you’re ever looking to spark your appetite. Simply open the app and search for photos of food taken nearby.

5 Things That Shouldn’t Be On Your Facebook

I just read an interesting article about crimes that were committed and solved on Facebook. In one of the featured stories was a break-in in a victim’s house by a man, whom she later found out had just befriended her on Facebook a week before!  After reading that article I wanted to share some of the information that was provided in that article to help those that are NEW to Facebook, Internet and/or Social Media!

 

This just goes to show that the things you put on Facebook: your private details, your photos, your thoughts and preferences; they can be used against you. So despite the feeling Facebook offers you, you really should take into account what you put on your Facebook page.

Here is a list of five things that are suggested that should not be on your Facebook page, beginning with:

1.People You Have To Answer To
2. Photos Of Everything
3. That Sensation of Always Tagging Where You Are
4. Angry Statuses Or Comments
5. Birthdays
 

1. People You Have to Answer To:

The friend’s list is a very personal place. Where am I going with this? Keep bosses, managers, supervisors, or even colleagues out of your friend’s list. No matter how strong your relationship is with anyone from these categories, it is best to keep your professional life separate from your personal life. For starters, if work gets you down, you can still write statuses about it without having to look over your virtual shoulder all the time.
While it may not be a good career move to speak ill of your work place, it is a valid form of stress relief, particularly when you get to vent without worrying about a backlash. Leave that option open for yourself by keeping your Facebook territory free of work-related people.

2. Photos of Everything

We can’t really resist sharing photos of our lives. For some, it is a funny, heart-warming or proud scene that is warmly shared with friends. For others, it’s a boost for the self-esteem. Albums after albums of homes, kids, the workplace, a drinking party, purchases, vacation trips, pets and family mark attempts to paint a picture of what a wonderful life I have; how’s yours?But when you share too much info on your page, it’s an invitation for trouble, particularly, if you readily post pictures of your home, your furniture and belongings, where your kids go to school, what you gave your wife for her last birthday or your latest gadget purchase of the month. Showing off is fine but you don’t want to be revealing more than what you want to roaming eyes.

Plus, it kind of throws your argument of “wanting to keep whatever’s left of your privacy private”, out the window. You have control over what pictures to post. Use it.

3. That itching need to constantly tag where you are

Are you a prolific serial tagger? You have to get that addiction cured. It’s not really advisable to constantly tag your whereabouts, especially when you even tag where your home is (believe me, there are people who do that). Experts have always advised us to not confine our lives to predictable routines because that’s how criminals know when to break and enter your home. And that was during the pre-Facebook years.On top of that, stop announcing to everyone when you will be away from home (in Phuket for the whole of next week!) or when you will be alone at home (Alone at home, googly-bear has a conference in Australia, again).The only thing missing are photos of where you keep your keys and valuables, but let’s not make it easier than it already is right now.

You can call it paranoia, but if you look at some of your friend’s Facebook Walls, and do a bit of homework, you can actually pull off a mini-heist or two. For the record, we’re not daring you, but now you know it can be done.

4. Angry statuses or comments

It’s never a good idea to write an angry letter or email about anyone to anybody. But the inhibition level is not as high when it comes to Facebook statuses. Regardless of how private you keep your page, there are people who are watching what you type. What they see paints a mental picture of you in their heads, which gets altered all the time, as they get to know you better.Being too critical and calling people four-letter names never help. And as much as you may think that this is my Facebook page and I am entitled to write whatever I think or feel at the moment, even you know deep down inside that it will come back to haunt you one day. Your opinions and thoughts will vary as you grow older, but Facebook statuses stay forever. Note to self: This cliché will come back and haunt me one day.

5. Birthdays

Of all the things on this list that you shouldn’t post, if you can only choose one, it should be this. Keep your birthdate figures a secret.Why? Do you know what birthdays are good for apart from reminding everyone to add another candle on your chocolate cake? Yeah, passwords to emails, online accounts and websites. Do not deny it.

When asked to provide a 6-to-8 character password, the first thing that pops into your mind will probably be a variation of your birth date or the birthdates of someone close to you. But if you have to put your birthday up (just to feel the love Facebook reminders have to offer), consider not revealing the year you were born.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone….the MAIN thing I am thankful for this Thanksgiving is my health! I’ve been going back and forth on my weight and also on my eating habits between that of good, not so good and HOLY GUACAMOLE Batman.  However about a month ago I decide to get serious and just do the work and just STOP having excuses, I do after all work with a guy that teaches people how to not buy people’s excuses I figured I’d apply those to myself.  I started eating healthier, eliminating certain high fat foods and adding Spirulina, and Whey Protein to my daily diet and it’s been awesome, just with those basic changes I’ve lost about 15lbs and have gone down a pant size probably two but come on no one needs to see me in Cowboy tight Wranglers! LOL!  So now I am always looking out for other tips to help people out that perhaps might be struggling like myself and I came across this great Thanksgiving article from Men’s Health, “Eat This, Not That” section in regards to what holiday food swaps you’d want to do…so enjoy this article and Happy Feasting everyone!

TOP SWAPS FOR THANKSGIVING!

According to the Calorie Control Council, the average American will consume 4,500 calories and 229 grams of fat on Thanksgiving day, a feat worthy of competitive eating accolades on any other day. But that doesn’t mean you can’t stuff your face without testing the fortitude of your new designer jeans. We imagine you’ll want turkey. Cranberry sauce. Potatoes, sure. Gravy. Maybe some veggies on the side. Oh, and pie? Yeah, go for it! But just by making a couple of smart at-the-table swaps you could eat to your heart’s content and still take in 700 fewer calories than you did last year. Now that’s something to be thankful for!
Dark turkey meat (4 0z) with jellied cranberry sauce (1/2-inch slice)
410 calories
10 g fat
(4 g satured)
320 mg sodium

Dark meat is about twice as fatty as white meat. Homemade cranberry sauce cuts the sugar by a considerable amount.

Eat This Instead!
Turkey breast (4 oz) with homemade cranberry sauce (2 Tbsp)
195 calories
4 g fat
265 mg sodium

 

Stuffing (1/2 cup)

175 calories
14 g fat
(6 g saturated)
420 mg sodium

Stuffing is nothing more than a pile of croutons moistened with fat and loaded with sodium. Double this number if it was cooked inside the bird. A fresh grean bean casserole with sautéed onions is a much healthier alternative—just make sure you ditch the cream of mushroom soup.

6 g fat (1 g saturated)

Pecan pie (1 medium slice, 1/6 pie)

The healthy fat from the pecans is not enough to justify the extra load of corn syrup calories. In the pantheon of pies, pumpkin ranks among one of the lower-calorie slices.

So there you have it, they had several other comparisons in various foods but let’s face it…I didn’t want to bum everyone out and for those of you that know me…I’ll be applying some of these to this years Thanksgiving Feast but not all…I still love my mom’s cooking and my girlfriend’s mom’s cooking so I’ll be doing my share of walking around the block.

It’s time you get out…

I remember when we used to have gigs, it would always be exciting to be sitting behind the drums right before that first song and we just started doing a 45 minute set and just jam out.  Heck I still get excited whenever I travel to different cities and there’s live bands playing and I happen to get a wild hair and jump up on stage with them.  Just that bit of adrenaline that pumps through you is an awesome feeling.  However when I go to a concert as a fan it’s just as fun and great.  I’ve been lucky enough to see some of the worlds best musicians and bands out there and I still have many more on my bucket list.  I came across this article and it just made sense and I figured I would share it with all my friends that read my blog.

People go to music concerts for many reasons. Some people watch concerts to support their favorite music idols, others go to concerts to have fun with friends, while others watch concerts to enjoy music.
Here’s Melinda and I at our first KISS concert it was a blast, but we’ve been lucky enough to watch U2 in OKC, Bruce Springsteen out in Philly, Bon Jovi, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Pat Green and several others.
But for whatever reason it is, many studies show that going to concerts is actually good for your health.

Here are some reasons why:

1. The feeling of excitement that a concert brings causes a sudden rush of adrenalin that is good for the heart.
2. This activity will also allow one to burn calories which can be a good form of physical exercise for the day.
3. Live music gives an uplifting feeling that is good for physical and emotional well being.
4. Live concerts allow one to perspire which leads to faster metabolism.
5. Going to concerts is a healthy alternative to spending an evening at home watching television.
6. Watching your favorite music icon, live, can bring a sense of confidence that can boost your overall well being.
7. Live concerts are social gatherings that can promote positive energy resulting to overall good health and great physical outlook.
8. Listening to live music can enhance your senses, resulting to more alert and active physical condition.
9. Being within a live concert promotes confidence that can lead to a healthier approach in life.
10. Live music can bring about a healthy balance that is good for the body and mind.

I usually try to go to a live music concert at least 2 or 3 times a year, not only do I love the live music side of things being a musician and all, but also the excitement during the show is awesome.  I am pretty lucky to have my cousin which is Co-Partner of Tickets4AnyEvent.com, I know what you’re thinking…”Is he really plugging his cousins company right now?” LOL..yep I sure am…and don’t worry I am not getting any sort of benefits from it, no free tickets, no preference on upcoming shows or anything.  She’s just been very helpful whenever I want to go to concerts and I like using her company for concerts.  I think what I like most is that for someone with my personality where I sometimes don’t plan on going to a concert until the last minute, they’re able to accomodate me.  I’ve literally heard that Tim McGraw is going to be in town at 5pm and I know my girlfriend loves him so as a surprise to her, I texted one of the reps that work at T4AE.com while we were finishing dinner, we then went home I told her to get ready because I was surprising her with tickets to the concert and I printed out the tickets which were awesome seats and the concert started at 7:30pm.  That’s pretty DAMN good last minute service if you ask me…No Scalpers, No Waiting in Line, No bidding wars online!

Artie Lange Breaking News!

As many of you know one of my favorite comics out there is Artie Lange, his wild, foul mouthed, crazy humor is just crazy!  I just finished listening to his latest stand up CD entitled, Jack and Coke.  Very saddened by this latest blog entry I came across on The Post.

Troubled comic Artie Lange landed in the hospital after stabbing himself nine times in an apparent suicide attempt, sources told The Post. Lange’s frantic mom called 911 Saturday morning after she entered his Hoboken apartment and found the bloodied funnyman, a law-enforcement source said. Lange sustained six “hesitation wounds” and three deep plunges. A source close to Lange’s management team confirmed that the Howard Stern sidekick stabbed himself, adding that his mother had come to visit him that day to drop off food. Surgeons managed to save Lange despite heavy bleeding. “We all have our demons,” Stern said on-air this week, referring to Lange’s past battles with addiction. “Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy. He’s a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don’t forget how great he is.”

The Power of One Podcast in 2010 by Marc Accetta

This year personal success coach and mentor , Marc Accetta will be hosting a Podcast show called, The Power of One. As there are only a couple of hours left in this great year of 2009, I feel very blessed to have shared so many great memories with so many wonderful people.  I have God to thank for so many blessings and insights that he has shown me along this past year.  We should all remember that all of the troubles and mistakes that we might of experienced during our life should be not just shrugged off as being a bad year or have a unlucky year.  So many people look at the year that they have just left behind and say, “Well 2009 just wasn’t my year!”  Don’t be one of those individuals, learn from the mistakes and struggles you came across in this past year and make sure that you do not repeat them in 2010.  My wish is for everyone to share a Happy and Safe New Year with your loved ones, with those people that share a special part in your heart and those that build you up and make you feel stronger, superior and just in a positive frame of mind.  I’ll be sharing my New Year’s Festivities in the great city of Austin, TX  home of the 2010 Rose Bowl Bound Texas Longhorns.  I’ll be sharing this great night with my amazing girlfriend, Melinda Soto, some of my buddies from Austin, brother and cousin.   I wish everyone the best out of 2010 and cannot wait to see what memories we create out there….What are some goals you are looking at tackling in 2010?

Here’s to a great year of music in 2009!

With 2009 rapidly approaching to an end, there has been there share of crappy music out there on the airwaves and in the clubs and there has also been alot of great songs that gave people hope, maybe not in the lyrics themselves but at least that there are still come good beats out there.  I came across a very talented mashup artist, DJ Earworm (www.djearworm.com) that summed up 2009 to a tee with his mashup video titled, “United State of Pop 2009”.  Here’s a look at his video…hope your song made the cut…if not…What was your favorite song of 2009?
